Hey, babes
This weekend was a stunner. 70 degree weather in the PNW with the rare early spring/late winter sunshine. Saturday was my birthday, and we were in shorts all day. Today is the last day of sun, however, before we resume our usual dark and rainy programming. I forced a bunch of kids to sit outside in the sun where the Wi-Fi didn’t work—I’m cruel, I know.
We started the weekend by hitting the beach Friday for a beautiful sunset. I took an obligatory thirst trap to commemorate the evening before I changed into my beach bum clothes. Listen. I know you all hate the time change, but it means 7:30pm sunsets here where every hour of sunlight is precious. I can make that thirty minute drive to the beach after work now, something I take great solace in. The ocean and the mountains are my peace, and working in an office full-time (in addition to my full-time remote job) means less of both.
Saturday we made it to Portland for Voodoo Doughnuts and lunch at Fogo de Chao, spent some time with family I haven’t seen in a few years—my child’s first time meeting her aunt since she’s been old enough to remember her.
Sometimes going home after a good day with loved ones, I feel a heavy weight on my heart, and this weekend was no different. Does anyone else experience this? In spite of that, this birthday is one that will stand out in my memory as one my friends made worthwhile. Their thoughtfulness, love, and support, even when we can’t be together, keeps fueling me forward.
I’m working on a few new projects I can’t wait to share, but before that, I’d like to shoot y’all a quick note that Crow Moon (BMR MC Book One) is only going to be free for a short while longer—meanwhile,
and I are writing Harvest Moon, the sixth book in the series. You can grab your copy of Crow Moon at any online retailer where ebooks are sold. Bikers, women in charge, magic and mayhem—I’m looking forward to visiting this familiar world again for the first time in a while.
That’s all for now, babes. I’m looking forward to the two weeks of spring break starting this weekend—and a Nicotine Dolls concert this Saturday at the Aladdin Theater in Portland. Check out their cover of “The Best” on Youtube (linked below) and have a beautiful night.
XOXO,
Mariah
