Hey, babes!
It’s Pisces season. January lasted for two years and February lasted approximately nine days, so let’s hope that by the end of the first quarter, we can find some normalcy, yeah?
We’re beginning the month strong with a freebie from
. This sizzling shifter MC romance is everything you expect from Kat, with forbidden love, fated mates, and a rough and ready biker. Make sure to grab your copy! It’s snowing outside as I type this.
I turn thirty-three this month, and I’m in deep contemplation about creating joy in the midst of the chaos, mess, and mundanity that accompanies real life. Romanticizing your life when you’re surrounded by dirty dishes, dog hair, and telephone wires requires presence. The ability to turn off the inner critic, to ignore the feeling you’re being observed and judged, and resist the temptation to mask or make yourself smaller.
I’ve seen this huge trend on bookstagram lately with creators talking about how they don’t feel like they fit in because they don’t fit xyz criteria, or that they have huge pressure to appear aesthetic for IG in order to be accepted in the community, which is insane to me. Is there any more immediate and sure way to suck the joy and love right out of a thing?
How many of us feel afraid to share our passions, fully enjoy the process of living and creating, or connect deeply with others? And how does that fear impact the way you allow yourself to experience your life?
(Share your bookstagram account with me and I’ll give you a follow!)
New releases and preorders
Whisper by K.O. Newman is now live! Whisper is the last book in the Lords of Khaos: Ironwood series, but never fear—you won’t have to wait long to see the rest of your favorite biker bears again. Lords of Khaos: Brave New World will be here before you know it with Peach leading the way.
If you need an opinion other than mine that this book is killer, you can read a stellar review of Whisper by
on Instagram at @queen_bee_reviews.Ebony Olson is coming in hot with Burning Immortality (book 4.5 of the Hierarch series). Few authors build captivating worlds like Ebony, and this series will sweep you away with the politics, lore, and character development. Fair warning that this series is dark, dark, dark. This is not a “the monster is evil to everyone except the woman they have a soft spot for” trope. The monsters are monsters, they act like it. And the FMC, while she is a good-hearted person, is a vicious player in this bloody game.
I hope this mad March blooms with hope and beautiful things for you as we fully close out this energetic year. Thanks for coming along on this ride with me, as always, babes.
XOXO,
Mariah
I’m sorry? Only going to be 33?.. Such a baby still, makes me feel OLD! Thank you for the shout out.. you are the sweetest! I understand the aesthetic and wanting to fit in. I review for the love of the books but when my feed doesn’t have the reach that a lot of other accounts have it can get disheartening. I get imposter syndrome because I want these reviews in the world so someone else can live a book like I do and when I’m on the losing side of the algorithm I feel like I’m letting people down. It did bring me to the Sisters of the Page so I gave that going for me! 😉
Thank you so much for the beautiful shout out! I love you on purpose bestie! 😘 As you know, I've mostly taken a step back from Instagram. I'm simply not enjoying it or feeling supported by the hate that has become rampant on the app. It's not the warm and wonderful place it was when I first found bookstagram and the loopers (gods that was a long time ago!) And ultimately found my people (starting with Miri and her picture of the St. Louis Arch). Happy early birthday my friend. You are only as old as you allow yourself to feel, and you, my dear, keep us young (33 is a baby 🤭 wait until you're staring down 42).
